Doing the Weird Work

I know my work is weird and I’m here for it now. I am all in because I’ve had enough personal and professional feedback to know it’s a ‘thing’ and it’s important. My weird thing is that I’ve created a modality of healing that is a blend of two very ‘interesting’ (weird) things, coaching and tarot.

And to be honest, this makes perfect sense to me because I feel strongly that healing is a mix of modalities always and in all ways. It’s our own special potion of things that nurture, heal and expand us. I know we are meant to be our own healers AND ALSO I know that we were never meant to go it alone. We can call in aligned and trusted teachers, guides and support. There are a lot of classic healing options like talk therapy and CBT and also, for many of us, those things don’t quite go far or deep enough to support us properly. It’s okay to know that you want more from a healing thing and to look for it in ‘unusual’ places. There are literally no rules with this. It’s also okay for the modalities that worked for us before to not be as effective as they used to be. As we go through life and we evolve and change, our needs evolve and change too. When I retrained as a coach, I liked the practicality of much of the coaching frameworks and also there was something missing from them for me.

I really need my more intuitive and spiritual side to be validated and nurtured as well as my logical and practical side and when I started working with folks, I realised that that is the case for so many of us.

We all get to gather our resources and supports together and weave them into a modality or system that works best for us. Right now, my own healing potion includes Coaching with the Tarot, of course, and also, Morning Pages, gentle rituals that connect me to and allow me to commune with my well council, walks in nature, being in water, parts work from Internal Family Systems, safe and available people, laughter & silliness and finding my muse and magic in my mundane.

This really sweet mix of things has allowed me to find more peace and ease within myself, to feel connected to something more and to nurture my healer and space holder. I share this so that you can see how it’s okay to mix, match and blend things into a really personalised support system for yourself and also to show that our healing things need to be able to come with us in our day to day lives. It can’t be disconnected or it’s not true and real healing. We aren’t escaping to heal and then leaving the healing thing and coming back to our lives. These things need to fold into our lives as no part of ourselves lives in a vacuum from any other part of ourselves.

It’s really important for each of us to explore and create our own healing support potions. It’s not easy in this busy and loud world we live in but I think that is what makes it even more important.

Some things to consider when assessing and creating your own healing potion:

What are you drawn to that helps you feel more grounded and centred?

What activities or ideas make you feel more connected to all the parts of yourself?

Is there a balance with your things that support each aspects of yourself (body, mind, soul)?

Are there any parts that you shy away from connecting with? What support might that part need?

What are you curious about, distracted by or obsessed with? What’s there for you that keeps drawing your eye? Can you give yourself permission to explore it a bit more?

Which element (air, earth, fire, water) feels the most soothing and connecting for you? Which are you most attracted to? Do you engage with this element enough? Can you find ways to add more of it in?

Is there anything that you feel you ‘should’ be doing but that feels a bit performative or empty for you now?

Do joy, beauty, pleasure and fun have a place in your healing journey? Can you make room for this?

Do grief, rage, sadness and fear have a place? How can you honour these aspects of your life?

Who are you drawn to, trust or enjoy learning from and healing with? What does a healing community or support system look and feel like for you?

Of course part of my work here is to support folks in their healing things and it would be a real honour to do just that with you. You can access more Coaching with the Tarot support over in the Membership Area if you prefer a more self-paced support. I also have a ‘Get Spiritual With Me’ section there that could be a great space for you to explore small, meaningful ways to add a bit more spirituality into your everyday life.

Some other ways I can support this potion making of yours is through a heart-centred Tarot reading, the Year Ahead Readings or the Homecoming Sanctuary container if you’d like a little more guided support, both of which can be found in the Offerings Section of the website. Here for this very potent kind of collaboration.
